MEET MARGARET T. WRIGHT: Maggie Wright is author of the popular Barron’s African Grey pet manual, AFRICAN GREY PARROTS: A COMPLETE PET OWNER’S MANUAL. She is also the creator of the Grey magazine: The Grey Play Round Table®.
She acquired her first Grey parrot, Merlin Tewillager, in the early 1990’s. Maggie read all the information she could find on the care of African Greys. But good information was scarce and she sensed that well-informed companion Grey owners was essential for successful lifelong relationships between human and bird. As a result, in the Spring of 1994, she created the Grey Play Round Table magazine to help other African Grey owners better understand how to work with their companion parrots.
A few years later, the www.africangreys.com and www.africanature.com sites were created to help people from around the world better understand their Greys. The www.africangreys.com site contains a special Membership section, which supplies audio lectures on Grey care and a direct Question and Answer section that focuses on your specific questions.
Maggie is now blessed to be sharing her home with three beautiful Greys: Merlin Tewillager, Sweet Pea and Kyaaro. She says, “Once one becomes attached to a companion bird, especially an incredibly sensitive and intelligent bird like a Grey, one begins to wonder how intelligent the rest of nature must be. Our African Grey companions can provide that doorway into viewing nature from a new perspective.”
In her “regular life,” Maggie Wright is a marketing consultant. She received her Masters in Business Administration in 1978 from Wake Forest University; and she is listed in World Who’s Who, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, and Who’s Who of American Women. |
